Coming up at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum February 25, 2016

~ Growing Seasons ~

Wildwood Valley Gardens – This year, the first full year for the Wildwood Valley Gardens, will feature a number of interesting plants. In spring look for lenten roses, blue-star and false indigo. During the summer you can find gay-feathers, phlox and a large variety of lilies. The harbingers of fall in the garden are the asters and the swamp sunflowers while winter celebrates with China Girl hollies, Okina liriope and golden sedge.

Daffodils – This spring Saint Louis hosts the 2016 World Daffodil Convention. To celebrate, Bellefontaine Volunteers and Staff planted over 60,000 daffodil bulbs along the roadways and planting beds from our front gates into Wildwood Valley. This brings the total daffodil count at Bellefontaine to over 120,000 bulbs. Amazing!

The Garden of Angels
The Garden of Angels

Garden of Angels Cutting Garden – Made possible by the Friends of Bellefontaine, the cutting garden adds to the serene beauty of the cemetery while offering an opportunity for those visiting the Garden of Angels to cut fresh flowers in memory of their loved ones. As with our other gardens it is designed for yearlong use with spring daffodils and allium, summer daisies and pincushion flowers, fall asters and goldenrods. The grasses included in the garden provide a unique, light-textured flower that can be cut fresh, or used as a dried cut-flower in winter.
