Beer Barons at Bellefontaine Cemetery Join us for a ZOOM presentation about Bellefontaine’s Beer Barons! Beer making has been part of the St. Louis scene since the mid-1800s, and more than 60 Beer Barons are buried at Bellefontaine. The city became a leader in beer production because of our location, lots of clean water, unique cave systems used to lager beer, and a heavy migration of Germans who helped make and consume the product. Our presentation will focus on eleven of the more provocative Barons. Some well-known include Busch, Anheuser, and Lemp, as well as less prominent names like Max Feuerbacher and William Nolker. REGISTER NOW! MAKE A GIFT Tours are free, however, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted. CHAPTER II: SUPPLIERS TO BREWERS | BEER BARONS 2024 We’re celebrating 175 years of St. Louis beer brewing and distilling history throughout the year, and "Beer Barons Chapter II – Suppliers to Brewers" continues the story of brewers and distillers by highlighting barons that bridge the gap between early pioneers of the industry and the time when St. Louis was recognized as a booming center for producing beer and spirits. Barons highlighted at this event are Anthony (Tony) Faust, Max & Frank Feuerbacher, Anton, Frank, & Henry Griesedieck, Tobias Spengler, and Gustavus Steinwender. Step back in with time us as we celebrate our resident barons with walking tours though the Cemetery, great food, music, and samples of beer, spirits, and wine. Engage with experts from local breweries and distilleries about time honored techniques of their trades and gain a deeper appreciation of their time-honored craft. Tickets are on sale now! We hope you join us for this unforgettable historic event at St. Louis’s only grand historic rural cemetery of the 19th century, and Missouri’s only Level III Arboretum. Our 2024 Beer Barons tickets are $30 per person per event. Enter through the main gates on West Florissant Ave. and follow the signs to the event. Check in at the registration table and then enjoy your evening! Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. If there is severe weather, this event could get canceled or rescheduled.
