Cathleen’s Chapel Walking Tour Walking is the ideal way to observe the cemetery. Our Walk with Cathleen begins at Wildwood Valley. A variety of plants bloom from spring to fall. We will pass a suffragist, a doctor who helped save St. Louis during the 1918 pandemic, and a cookbook author. We'll learn about riverboat pilots and civil war participants on the way to the Busch Mausoleum. Caravan Tour Join us for a guided caravan tour! Follow along in your own car as we drive to four locations within the cemetery. Wildwood Valley is our first stop where flowers bloom from the spring until fall, and a famous doctor, a suffragist, and a cookbook author are buried nearby. Next, we’ll explore the mausoleums on Prospect and will be granted entry to the Wainwright Tomb and Lemp Mausoleum. William Clark’s plot is our third destination. The large monument is dedicated to his heroic efforts on the Voyage of Discovery. Mausoleum I Walking Tours Located on the 314 acres of Bellefontaine Cemetery are over 100 Mausoleums. As St. Louisans had grand homes throughout the city, they also had grand mausoleums on the grounds of Bellefontaine. This tour focuses on the history, iconography, and architecture of these grand structures. Entrance into a few of these mausoleums has been granted by the families. Explore these ‘Forever Homes’ with guides who will share stories of the family and the structures. ♦ Space is limited, and reservations are required ♦ Tour will cover less than 2 miles across moderate terrain over both pavement and grass. ♦ Please wear appropriate walking attire. ♦ Please arrive between 15 to 20 minutes before tour time for a prompt departure. ♦ Tours are free, however, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted.
