Obituary For Viola K Schleicher
Viola K Schleicher, 94, passed away February 3, 2023, at Friendship Village Chesterfield, her home where she loved to stay active with many friends old and new.
“Vi” and her late brother, Robert B Knox, attended high school in University City. She then attended college at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. While there, she accepted a blind date with a boy, Lawrence D Schleicher, from nearby Westminster College. They continued to see each other and went on to marry at her church, Vinita Park Methodist, in 1951, had 3 children, and remained together 51 years until Larry’s passing in 2002.
Daughter of the late Orrissa E and Robert M Knox, she is survived by her children, Lawrence (Julie), Karen, Gail (Scott); dear grandchildren Kelsey (Brad) Bershad, and Ehren (Alejandra) Schleicher; dear great grandchild, Eleanor Bershad.
Vi was a lifelong resident of St Louis, Missouri, and longtime member of Bonhomme Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of Rose Hill chapter for 1991-1992 and 1997-1998, and as a Grand Representative of Kentucky in Missouri from 2001 to 2003. She maintained current membership in Fenton and Florissant chapters after Rose Hill closed.
She loved traveling and insisted on hosting every holiday with family. Her hobbies included quilting and knitting and tending to her houseplants.
Viola was a fun-loving and very resilient lady who will be remembered for her love of family, faith, and an ever-ready smile to share.
A service will be held at Friendship Village Chesterfield Chapel on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
