Obituary For Thomas Hampton Richardson

Thomas Hampton Richardson (82) of Wildwood, Missouri, passed away on January 4, 2024.

Tom was born to Claude and Pearl Richardson on November 25, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by Lois, his wife of 60 years, and three children, Shelly Lay, David (Joanne) Richardson, and Stephanie (John) German, granddaughters Anna (Feng) Liu and Kara Richardson, grandsons Ryan Thomas Lay and Logan German, great grandson Julian Liu, and nieces Carolyn Hood and Christine (Greg) Whelan, as well as numerous beloved great nephews and nieces.

A graduate of Washington University as an electrical engineer, he was a born entrepreneur and founded the Richardson Engineering Group, Inc. The company designed electrical, mechanical, and structural projects in the St. Louis area for 30 years. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, donating his time in the interests of boating safety and education.

A man of many diverse interests, Tom recently said that he did every single thing he wanted to do and that he and Lois lived a charmed life. As a young adult, he demonstrated his skills as a gifted photographer, pilot, and horseback rider. He had a keen interest in genealogy, tracing our family roots back to arrival from abroad. He also had a passion for history, even writing an historical novel (unpublished), but his greatest love was sailing. After retirement, he and Lois enjoyed spending the better part of 5 years living and sailing around North Carolina and Florida.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum Chapel in St. Louis, MO. Family and friends are invited to the family home for fellowship after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a memorial donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Tom was the best Father-in-law...he loved starting Family Traditions. Christmas Eve was one of my favorites...we would gather around and snack on his crock pot of chili cheese dip..we shall carry on!
