Obituary For Margaret Troje-Meade

Margaret Troje-Meade age 69, of Minneapolis, passed away from breast cancer on January 16th, 2023, in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by love with family and friends.

Margy was raised in Richfield and graduated from The Academy of Holy Angels. She received a Bachelor’s of Arts from Augsburg University, and a Master’s in Social Work from UMN. She worked at HCMC’s Crisis Center as a social worker, where she met her future husband, Michael Troje. Together, they later served in the State Department as diplomats, serving in Port Au Prince, Dublin, Valetta, Baghdad, and Belfast. In Baghdad, she helped set up the U.S. Military hospital in the Green Zone. In addition to travel, she was a creative spirit who loved the arts, music, color, and design. In retirement, she moved to downtown Minneapolis, and spent her days with family, grandchildren, and friends. Her philosophy was, “It’s the human connections that matter.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Troje; parents, Joseph and Donaldlene Meade; and brother-in-law, Mike Nichols.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany (John) Collis; grandchildren, Basil, Phoenix, and Owen; siblings, Marilyn (Steve) Meade-Moore, Mac (Jean) Meade, Maria Meade, and Mike (Carol Wilson) Meade; nieces, Casey and Tessa; nephews, John and Dan; in-laws, the Troje Family; and many other family and friends.

A celebration of Margy’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN, with gathering 1 hour prior.
