Obituary For Kimberly Davis
Kimberly, Kim Davis (Quick) lost her 15 month battle with stage four bladder cancer on Thursday June 20th 2024. She ended her days in the company of her husband, daughters, and family, surrounded by an abundance of love.
Born in the summer of 1963, the 5th child of six to John and Jacquelyn (Jimi) Quick in St. Louis Missouri, Kim was a cherished and loved child. Growing up, Kim spent much time atop her fathers shoulders, summers road tripping across the country with her family, and swooning over cardinals baseball players, even going as far as writing them love letters. After Graduating from Parkway North High School in 1982, she attended Meramec Community College where she received her associates degree in Early Childhood Education and her joy of helping mold young minds was born.
Kim married her first husband Bill (Willard Pieper) on July 18th 1987. They settled in Ballwin, MO for a time where she taught in a local daycare and their first daughter Ashley (Pieper) was born. Both longed for a quieter country lifestyle and moved to Sullivan, Missouri in the summer of 1995 and were soon joined by their second daughter Schelly (Pieper). Kim’s days were spent working for Parents as Teachers, outside lounging by the pool or four wheeling, shuffling her children to their many activities, nestled in bed with a good book, and at family gatherings where epic easter egg hunts were coordinated, pool parties were thrown, and late night bonfires were enjoyed. In 2002, after many years as a Parents as Teachers educator, she returned to school and pursued her Bachelors of Professional Studies in Elementary Education, graduating in 2004. Kim began working with the Sullivan School district in 2003 and dedicated her 14 year career there to Preschool special education. In her time there she helped many families, giving all those she taught a more stable foundation to grow and learn from. She even took on some of her students in her own home during the summer months to help support parents who struggled finding daycare. Beloved by her fellow coworkers and children alike, she found endless joy in her work. After leaving Sullivan in 2017 to move to Springfield, MO, she continued her career with Missouri First Steps and recently retired in March 2024.
Kim found great love in her second husband, George Davis. Married on September 23rd 2017 they resided in the Springfield, mo area and lived life happily in their log home with their four cats and two dogs, lovingly decorated with an abundance of trinkets and collectables found over their years of antiquing and traveling together. In recent years Kim enjoyed attending her bible study group and book club with good friends, spending time with her siblings on their weekly zoom call, a habit born of Covid days and continued every Sunday evening through the years. She thoroughly enjoyed exploring local wineries, antique stores, and small businesses whenever they had time. While her battle with cancer slowed her life down in many ways, Kim still found time to travel with her family, spend time with friends, and continue family traditions like baking Christmas cookies.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Jacquelyn (Jimi) Quick and older brother John Quick Jr. Kim is survived by her husband, George Davis, daughters Ashley Pieper, and Schelly Pieper, (Jordon Shortt) step daughters Francine Davis, Miranda Meredith
(James), Grandchildren Henry and Diana Meredith, Siblings Vicki Harpring (David), Michael Quick (Mary), Kathleen Fulton (Mike), Kristin Hoekzema (Grant), and her many nieces and nephews.
