Donald L. Nighswonger, 83, of Glendale, Missouri passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 13th, 2025 with his beloved wife Susan Lauder Nighswonger at his side.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters Sheila (Glen) Stuerman, Pamela (Grant) Tucker; his stepdaughters Laura McLaughlin, Melissa Wright, Amy McLaughlin; grandchildren Colin Stuerman, Bret Stuerman, Trent Stuerman, Sydney Tucker, Nolan Tucker; step grandchildren Ben Collins, Brayden Collins, Anna Wright and Max Wright.

He also leaves behind his sister, Norma Hultgren of Overland Park, Kansas and three nephews and their families.

Don was born in Wichita, Kansas to Roy and Arnola Bosley Nighswonger in September of 1941. He graduated from Wichita East High School, then Wichita State University. He later served in the USAF National Guard in St. Louis.

Don learned to play golf at the age of eleven and enjoyed playing throughout his life. He shared his love of the sport with his family and offered to teach anyone who was interested, or even if they weren’t he would promise a day of fun just hitting golf balls at the driving range. He was a patient teacher and loved his time spent with family more than anything else.

His love of travel included seeking out famous golf courses from California to Scotland where he made new friends and enjoyed the many challenges each golf course presented.

His career included serving as a vice-president of Central Hardware in St. Louis.

Later he would move to Buckingham, Pennsylvania to serve as Corporate Controller of Heartland Payment Systems in Princeton, New Jersey until his retirement.

Don loved and cherished his family. He was generous, kind, patient and always available to anyone who needed help.

He was loved beyond measure.

A private memorial service will take place in the spring.
