Angela “Angie” Sue Rightnowar, 71, of St. Louis, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. She is survived by her two children, Kelsey (Herb) and Hayley (Flynn), and her beloved horse, Prince.

Angie was born on September 3, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Edsel and Mary Lou (Jordan) Rightnowar. She earned a BA in theatre from Knox College, an MFA from Indiana University, and an MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

During her bright career in marketing, she worked at Mercantile Bancorporation, Boatmen’s Bancshares, Enterprise Bank & Trust and she was the Director of Corporate Communications at Delta Dental of Missouri for over 10 years. Angie, the “ultimate creative marketer”, spearheaded Delta Dental’s community outreach events and garnered national
attention and recognition. She partnered with Give Kids A Smile and Delta Dental Health Theatre to bring free dental services and education to St. Louis area children. With Bazoink Entertainment, she developed a dental health roadshow creating Delta Dental characters like Tooth Wizard, Panda, and PlaqueMan. Along with a myriad of Delta Dental volunteers, Angie and her team of entertainers brought fun and distraction to children at free dental clinics, schools and events all around St. Louis, Missouri.

Angie’s passion was riding horses. She spent countless weekends with Hayley and Kelsey riding her thoroughbred Prince Charming at Dublin Farms, Ltd. in House Springs, Missouri. In 1999, Angie impulse purchased Prince from a paddock auction at Fairmount Park. She quickly learned that Prince was afraid to jump and might not make the transition from the racetrack to the hunter ring. The mother-daughter horse training duo at Dublin Farms, “Butch” McNamee and “Boo” Gonzalez, didn’t want to keep taking her money for a horsethat wasn’t safe for her kids to ride. Angie was undeterred by their professional opinion. She kept saying, “Let’s give him one more week.” Prince and his trainers put in the time and effort to bring out his patient demeanor and he became the star school horse at Dublin Farms where he lives today. He retired in 2023.

Angie was permanently disabled by a traumatic brain injury after a fall at home in 2010. Although the years since her accident were fraught with challenges, Angie remained creative, humorous, and caring. She enjoyed coloring, visiting the barn, seeing plays,
singing, spending time with her loved ones, and Michael Jackson music videos.
