Arboretum Tour – Winter Shrub Walk Join us for a specialized horticulture tour of the grounds of Missouri’s first ArbNet Level III Accredited Arboretum in winter, with one of our Horticulturists on staff. This tour will focus on the shrubs of the Arboretum’s collection of about 10,000 trees and shrubs, representing nearly 600 distinct species, selections, and varieties. Horticulture Class – Pruning Trees and Shrubs Join our Director of Horticulture, James Faupel, for an indoor presentation to introduce you to pruning basics and tool care before heading out onto the Arboretum grounds to explore St. Louis’s most diverse tree collection. It may be cold, but winter is the absolute best time of year to prune most of your dormant trees and shrubs. Don’t forget to bring your favorite set of hand pruners, as well as your plant photography and note taking gear, and to dress for the weather! This class will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Space is limited, and reservations are required. The cost per person to attend is FREE, with a suggested donation of $15. Please wear appropriate walking attire and dress for cold winter weather. Room is limited and reservations are required. Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum is excited to bring you our Fourth Annual Garage Sale on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until noon in our service yard. Once you enter the Cemetery gates, directional signs will guide you to the location. This event will rain or shine at Bellefontaine Cemetery, 4947 W. Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115. Browse items from the Cemetery, our volunteers, and a few antique dealers. Furniture, clothing, collectibles from past Cemetery events, and assorted items will be available for sale. A percentage of proceeds will go to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery. The Friends is a 501c3 that supports historic preservation, conservation efforts, and educational purposes, such as funding tours for local youths when they may not be available within their school district. No RSVP is necessary! Stop by, support a great cause, and then take your own self-guided tour through the Cemetery and Arboretum! Maps will be available to guide you on your way through the 314 acres.
