CHAPTER IV: BACK TO THE BEGINNING | BEER BARONS 2024 We’re celebrating 175 years of St. Louis beer brewing and distilling history throughout the year, and "Beer Barons Chapter IV – Back to the Beginning" is the final Beer Barons event for this year, and we’re focusing on barons that created national and international renowned brands using techniques, processes, and business practices of early barons who paved the way for St. Louis to become a brewing and distilling powerhouse on a national and global scale. Steamboaters and Bellefontaine Cemetery Whether we are talking pilots, captains, or owners, the waterways and the ships that traversed them helped define St. Louis and the region. At first, it was every man—or boat—for himself, but soon set timetables and routes were established. This led to competition among private owners and groups, leaving casualties in the wake of organization. Then there is the river: at once a superhighway and a vexed spirit. Accidents and mishaps on the Mississippi mean a short life for most ships and many who guide them. Watch from the comfort of your home or wherever you may be! Sign up now for this free online presentation! REGISTER NOW! MAKE A GIFT Tours are free, however, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted.
