Cathleen’s Chapel Walking Tour Walking is the ideal way to observe the cemetery. Our Walk with Cathleen begins at Wildwood Valley. A variety of plants bloom from spring to fall. We will pass a suffragist, a doctor who helped save St. Louis during the 1918 pandemic, and a cookbook author. "Sinners" and "Saints" at Bellefontaine Cemetery The era in which we live may impact the definition of a "saint" or a "sinner". For example, Virginia Minor worked most of her life to make the world better for others. During the Civil War, she worked with the St. Louis Union Aid Society, a precursor to the American Red Cross. Later, she would strive to secure women the right to vote. At first, Virginia tried using the 14th Amendment to vote in the Presidential of 1872. Moving forward, she would be a Suffragist for the cause. In 1894, at the time of her death, no clergy would officiate since Virginia was disrupting the natural order of the times. Learn how others in their time may have been classified and how we view their lives today. Sign up now to attend this free 50-minute Zoom presentation. REGISTER NOW!
