Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum presents a special tour with Carol Shepley author of St. Louis: An Illustrated Timeline, Blues, Baseball, Books, Crooks, Civil Rights, and the River. During the tour through Bellefontaine Cemetery, Carol will highlight some of the persons, places, and events identified in her newly released publication. After the two-hour tour is complete, join Carol in the Gate House for a book signing.

After you cast your vote, we invite you to celebrate by visiting the resting place of Virginia Minor, women's vote suffragist and all around rabble-rouser. You can add your "I Voted" sticker alongside many other St. Louisans at her gravesite. The cemetery will be open from 8:00 - 5:00. Once inside the gates, follow the directional arrows to Virginia Minor's gravesite.

This two-hour walk with Master Guides Tom and Dan will focus on Prospect Avenue - home to many of Bellefontaine's mausolea. After meeting at Willow Gate House to organize, the tour group will drive and park near a southern point in the cemetery. The walk will cover less than a mile of moderate terrain and visit 20 mausolea. Permission has been granted to enter; the Wainwright, Lemp and Pierce mausolea for this tour. This two hour trolley tour will be led by one of our Volunteer Master Guides who will convey highlights of the cemetery grounds, horticulture and a variety of intriguing historic figures who now rest at Bellefontiane. ♦ Seating is limited and reservations are required. ♦ We ask that everyone arrive between 9:30 am and 9:45 am for a prompt 10:00 am departure. ♦ The Trolley is climate controlled but weather appropriate clothing is suggested as opportunities to disembark from the vehicle are available. ♦ This tour is free, however donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted. Help honor Thomas Clement Fletcher, Governor of the State of Missouri 1865-1869, with the dedication of his Missouri Governor marker. Thomas was the first native born son of Missouri to become Governor. He governed Missouri through the final years of the Civil War and the challenging beginning of Reconstruction. An abolitionist from a young age, Fletcher issued a "Proclamation of Freedom" on January 11, 1865, adding his personal endorsement to the ordinance passed the same day by the state constitutional convention, abolishing slavery in Missouri. Speaking at the dedication will be Dr. Huss Ph.D. in American Studies from St. Louis University. Fletcher House will be present with artifacts from the Fletcher House located in Hillsboro, Missouri. Ceremonies will be 11:30-12:30 lead by members of General Thomas C. Fletcher Camp #47 - Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Louisa Volker Auxiliary #215 - Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Upon arriving at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, proceed through the main gate and follow the directional arrows to the event location.

Join us at the cemetery on December 1st for a self-guided journey with four stops, which include the Campbell House family lot and the Field House family lot.
