Consolations of Memory is a self-guided cemetery walk of the area surrounding Hotchkiss Chapel as well as the Chapel itself. Along the way guests will learn not only about mourning customs of the 19th century but also illness, medical treatments, funerary and burial practices, cemetery iconography and more. Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum are pleased to host the unveiling of a cenotaph to honor the memory of Joseph C. Brown. Directions to the location of the unveiling will be well marked from the main entrance at 4947 West Florissant the day of the event. Attendees are then invited to a reception at Hotchkiss Chapel directly following the dedication where. Signage will identify the path to the reception.
