Depending on a period, one can be both Noteworthy and Notorious. Today, Virginia Minor is Noteworthy for her efforts to secure the right to vote for women. She was considered so Notorious in her day that no Clergy was allowed to preside for her funeral. Getty Cori had few job options in her day, so she took a position that labeled her an assistant to her husband at Washington University. She would become the third woman and the first American woman in history to win the Nobel Prize in science.
