Beyond the Gates: Noteworthy and Notorious Women at Bellefontaine

Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum

Off-site Event Join Dan Fuller, Event and Volunteer Coordinator at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, for a public presentation off-site. Beyond the Gates: Noteworthy and Notorious Women at Bellefontaine Our program highlights some of the 'Noteworthy and Notorious Women' laid to rest here at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. Depending on a period, one can be both Noteworthy and Notorious. Today, Virginia Minor is Noteworthy for her effects to secure the right to vote for her gender. She was considered so Notorious in her day that no Clergy was allowed to preside for her funeral. Getty Cori had few job options in her day, so she took a position that labeled her an assistant to her husband at Washington University. She would become the third woman and the first American woman in history to win the Nobel Prize in science. Learn about many other women who left their mark on history and then made their final rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery.   Thursday, March 16, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Lewis and Clark Library 9909 Lewis-Clark Blvd St. Louis, MO, 63136 (314) 994-3300 Get more info and register here!
