Trolley Tour: 1904 World’s Fair

Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum

This two hour Trolley Tour will focus on those who made the Grandest of Fairs possible in St. Louis.  From David R. Francis to Isaac Taylor, this tour will highlight the people who helped shape the event that took Place in Forest Park from April 30 through December 1, 1904. 20 Million visitors attended the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.  Additionally, some of those attendees traveled to Bellefontaine Cemetery to pay homage to a person directly connected to the new American Territory acquired in 1803! Some walking will take place as we exit the trolley to explore the grounds.  Wear comfortable footwear and be ready for sun and insects.   Our trolley tours are from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. ♦ Seating is limited and tickets are required.♦ We ask that everyone arrive between 9:30 am and 9:45 am for a prompt 10:00 am departure.♦ The Trolley is climate controlled but weather-appropriate clothing is suggested as opportunities to disembark from the vehicle are available.♦ Trolley tour tickets are $5 each. Mausoleum I Walking Tours Located on the 314 acres of Bellefontaine Cemetery are over 100 Mausoleums. As St. Louisans had grand homes throughout the city, they also had grand mausoleums on the grounds of Bellefontaine. This tour focuses on the history, iconography, and architecture of these grand structures. Entrance into a few of these mausoleums has been granted by the families.
