Decoration Day 1904-1918: In with the Fair, Out with the War

Bellefontaine Cemetery will host its second annual Decoration Day event on Saturday, June 4th, 2016. This large-scale living history event will explore a 14 year period, beginning with the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (otherwise known as the 1904 World’s Fair), and will feature reenactors from other historical events taking place up until the close of World War I in November of 1918. Living history provides a ‘first-hand’ account of the lives of people associated with historical events. This Decoration Day event will be attended by suffragists, doughboys, movers and shakers of the World’s Fair, important figures from the Missouri Botanical Garden, and vintage automobiles and horse-drawn carriages of the time period.
