During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are inviting people to take self-guided tours through Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum.

You can drive through the cemetery along 14 miles of paved roadway, or tour our newly painted white line route from the comfort of your car. You can also walk through the cemetery and practice social distancing, keeping at least 6 feet apart from other people who may be visiting the cemetery at the same time. Dog walking is permitted, but please follow our leash laws and clean up after them. You may also ride a bike through the cemetery by yourself or with a friend. Safe social distancing is recommended for all cyclists, too.

We have maps in a box right outside of our main office door, which is located immediately on the right as you enter the cemetery gates at 4947 W. Florissant. You may tour Bellefontaine Cemetery from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Cemetery gates are locked promptly at 5:00 p.m.

Run or walk a 5K journey through history and nature.

Fox Trot Web LogoFounded in 1849, Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum has been the final resting place for many of St. Louis’s notable figures including William Clark, Adolphus Busch, and the Lemp Family.  Celebrated architecture such as the Wainwright Mausoleum, Hotchkiss Chapel, and the ‘Girl in the Glass Box’ can also be found on the grounds. The cemetery has a diverse collection of over 7,000 trees and shrub varieties in its arboretum making an enjoyable run/walk through history and nature.

The Fox Trot is a nod to our resident foxes who, according to Native American Tradition, represent the spirit of one’s ancestors when seen on a burial ground.

Proceeds from the run will benefit the Friends of Bellefontaine mission to support the cemetery’s conservation and preservation efforts and to support educational and cultural opportunities for the community.

$25 for Adults age 15+
$15 for Youth 14 and under

Participants receive long sleeve Fox Trot logo shirt.
