As you are aware, coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is beginning to impact the St. Louis Community and beyond. Bellefontaine Cemetery Association has a pandemic plan in place to maintain the level of service you and your family and the St. Louis community have come to expect from us for over 170 years.

We will continue to provide services during our regular business hours, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The office remains open for all Cemetery business. We strongly encourage families to contact us by phone or email, as most business can be conducted without an in-person visit.

We encourage sales appointments to be booked in advance when possible. Please contact our main number below or email Rick Lay rlay@bcastl.org or Gracie Griffin ggriffin@bcastl.org for an appointment or sales information.

For the safety of the public, staff, and volunteers, we have canceled upcoming events and public tours until April 6. At that time, we will re-evaluate the situation and decide how to proceed.

We will continue to perform all scheduled burials.

We are handling requests for the use of our Chapel on a case-by-case basis. If you have scheduled a service, we will gladly work with you to reschedule for a later date if necessary.

We will continue to provide you and the general public updates regarding any service changes as they occur via email, Bellefontaine’s Facebook page, and on our website at www.bellefontainecemetery.org.

We encourage you to visit us for a self-guided tour during this time. Maps are available in a box outside of the office door.

Protective measures will continue to be put in place as necessary to limit potential exposure and risk to those visiting or working at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. To ensure the safety and comfort of our visitors, we have taken these key actions:

✅ Alcohol-based hand sanitizers will continue to be available in buildings.
✅ Cleaning and sanitation protocols have been enhanced throughout the offices, restrooms, and other facilities.
✅ Hand washing and wellness reminders have been shared with staff and volunteers.
✅ Bellefontaine visitors, volunteers, and employees are asked to stay home if they are not well.

We thank you for your continued trust and confidence in Bellefontaine and ask that you please call with any questions or concerns at 314-381-0750.

Sincerely,

Sherry L. Smith
