Sara Teasdale

Sara Teasdale was brought up to think of herself as sickly and spent long hours in her room writing sensitive poems about unrequited love. This family home was on Lindell Boulevard about at the site of the Pope Pius Library. Reedy’s Mirror, a St. Louis weekly, first published her works. In 1918, Sara Teasdale won the first Pulitzer Prize for Poetry ever awarded. The award was presented for her collection, “Love Songs”, and she became recognized as the best known of the women poets in the United States.
