Take a Self-Guided Tour of Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum
You are welcome to independently tour Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum! Bellefontaine Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Bellefontaine Cemetery is also a Level III Accredited Arboretum and listed in the Morton Register of Arboreta. Our 314 acres are beautiful year-round.
You can drive through the Cemetery along 14 miles of paved roadway or tour our newly painted white line route from the comfort of your car. Dog walking is permitted, but please follow our leash laws and bring your doggy bags! You may also ride a bike through the Cemetery by yourself or with a friend.
We have maps in a box outside of our main office door, which is located immediately on the right as you enter the Cemetery gates at 4947 W. Florissant. Bellefontaine Cemetery is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cemetery gates are locked promptly at 5:00 p.m. Bring your camera and share your pictures on our Google, Facebook, Instagram, or other social media pages.

An Accredited Arboretum
In addition to being a cemetery, Bellefontaine is Missouri’s first Level III Accredited Arboretum and is listed in the Morton Register of Arboreta. As a trailblazer in regional tree conservation, Bellefontaine’s mission is to support and enhance the cemetery as a place of perpetual commemoration and as a garden of beauty, inspiration, and historic significance. Bellefontaine has an accessible and diverse horticultural collection and has become an important natural sanctuary and habitat for wildlife in the urban environment. Holding a prestigious Level III status, it stands as a celebrated leader in local tree conservation, education, and historical preservation.
Public Tours Led by a BCA Guide
Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum offers trolley tours and various walking tours, all led by a Bellefontaine guide. Each tour is unique. Sign up today and explore the flora, fauna, and history of the Cemetery. Reservations are required. Times and dates vary, so please see our events calendar for more details.
Specialty Tours
Periodically throughout the year, we offer specialty tours about such topics as Notable Women, Black History, or the 1904 World's Fair. Please see our events calendar for details on when these are offered.
Private Bus Tour
Private bus tours led by one of our guides can be arranged for a fee between $180 and $250. The tour must be scheduled a minimum of two weeks in advance, and there is a maximum of 25 people per tour. Private Tour
Bellefontaine offers private tours by foot, car, or caravan. These are also led by one of our guides. Plans must be scheduled a minimum of two weeks in advance.
