Enjoy a walk or run through Missouri’s first Level III Arboretum (and one of only 52 in the world!) while surrounded by incredible fall foliage. The rolling hills of Bellefontaine’s 314 acres will allow a greater appreciation of the 87\,000 lives commemorated on the grounds of the oldest Garden Cemetery west of the Mississippi.  \n\nFounded in 1849\, Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum has been the final resting place for many of St. Louis’s notable figures\, including Priscila Baltimore\, General William Clark\, Sarah Teasdale\, and Adolphus Busch. You will find world-renowned architecture such as the Wainwright Mausoleum\, our historic Hotchkiss Chapel\, and the “Girl in the Glass Box” nestled among our 14 miles of roadway. A diverse collection of close to 10\,000 trees and shrub varieties dot the landscape\, making this a peaceful run/walk through history and nature. \n\nThe race will be held on Saturday\, November 1\, 2025. During this two-hour walking tour\, you will visit the graves of the 10 Medal of Honor recipients laid to rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. While on this walk\, each of the 10 will have their American and Medal of Honor flags refreshed. At each grave\, their accomplishments will be read aloud from the submissions made to secure their accommodation. Attendees will carry flags to each burial location and be part of honoring these 10 heroes of our country. \nThis event is free\, but space is limited. DESCRIPTION:In the months of September\, October\, and November\, we offer a two-hour walking tour of the Cemetery and Arboretum as the foliage transitions through the rich colors of Autumn. This tour will be led by one of our Master Guides who will convey highlights of the grounds\, horticulture and a variety of intriguing historical figures who call Bellefontaine Cemetery their last address. \nSpace is limited and reservations are required. \n\nTours will cover about 2 miles across moderate terrain. \nPlease wear appropriate fall walking attire. \nReservations in advance are required\, so you must sign up online.\nPlease arrive between 15 to 20 minutes before tour time for a prompt departure. \nThis tour is free with a suggested donation of $5.\n\n\n \nREGISTER NOW!\n \n \n \nMAKE A GIFT\nTours are free\, however\, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted.
