SUMMARY:Beer Barons - Zoom Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Beer Barons at Bellefontaine Cemetery\n\n\nJoin us for a ZOOM presentation about Bellefontaine’s Beer Barons! Beer making has been part of the St. Louis scene since the mid-1800s\, and more than 60 Beer Barons are buried at Bellefontaine. The city became a leader in beer production because of our location\, lots of clean water\, unique cave systems used to lager beer\, and a heavy migration of Germans who helped make and consume the product. Our presentation will focus on eleven of the more provocative Barons. Some well-known include Busch\, Anheuser\, and Lemp\, as well as less prominent names like Max Feuerbacher and William Nolker.\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW!\n\nMAKE A GIFT\nTours are free\, however\, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted. To make a gift to the Friends of Bellefontaine\, email Joe Shields or call our office at 314-381-0750. \nMake a gift onlineVENMO: @FriendsofBellefontaineCemeteryPAYPAL: donations@bcastl.org

SUMMARY:CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO STORM DAMAGE CLEANUP
DESCRIPTION:Closed to the Public Until Further NoticeImportant Notice Regarding Temporary Closure Due to Storm DamageDue to the ongoing assessment of storm damage and debris across our 314 acres\, Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum will remain closed to the public until further notice. Please check our social media and website regularly for the latest updates. https://bellefontainecemetery.org Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our families\, guests\, and staff. We are actively continuing with cleanup and restoration efforts following the May 16 EF3 tornado. This was the strongest tornado to hit St. Louis since 1959\, bringing winds up to 152 mph and causing extensive damage. In this challenging time\, our thoughts are with all those affected by the storm’s devastating 23-mile path. We stand with our neighbors and the City of St. Louis as we all work together to recover and rebuild. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Cemetery and Arboretum soon. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you need to make funeral arrangements\, please call the Cemetery office at 314-381-0750. Our Thoughts Are with the CommunityAs we continue our efforts to recover from the tornado\, our thoughts go out to those in our community who lost loved ones\, suffered injuries\, and have devastating damage. Although the clean-up efforts will take time\, we know that our community will persevere as it always does. At Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum\, we continually learn and share stories of strength and triumph during difficult times. We are already hearing of neighbors helping neighbors and communities coming together. This is the ongoing story of St. Louis that makes us proud to be a part of this community\, and we deeply appreciate the spirit and determination that continues to inspire positive changes throughout our city. \n
