SUMMARY:1904 World's Fair - Zoom Presentation
DESCRIPTION:1904 World’s Fair and Bellefontaine Cemetery\n\n\n\n120 years ago\, St. Louis welcomed 20 million visitors to the Grandest of World’s Fairs from April 30 through December 1\, 1904. All eyes turned to St. Louis as the new century was on display in the fair’s larger-than-life palaces\, and new technology was front and center throughout the Fair Grounds. In our presentation\, we will identify and explain some of the key figures in the creation and execution of the 1904 World’s Fair. Those who are featured in these presentations are forever at rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. \nMake it a date night\, a family night\, or enjoy the presentation by yourself. Reservations are required\, so please sign up today! \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW!\n\nMAKE A GIFT\nTours are free\, however\, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted. SUMMARY:Beyond the Gates: Saints and Sinners at Bellefontaine Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:Off-site Event\n\n\nJoin Dan Fuller\, Event and Volunteer Coordinator at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum\, for a public presentation off-site.\n\n  \nBeyond the Gates: Saints and Sinners at Bellefontaine Cemetery \n\n\nThe era in which we live may impact the definition of a Saint or a Sinner. For example\, Virginia Minor worked most of her life to make the world better for others. During the Civil War\, she worked with the St. Louis Union Aid Society-a precursor to the American Red Cross. Later she would strive to secure women the right to vote. At first\, Virginia tried using the 14th Amendment to vote in the Presidential of 1872. Moving forward\, she would be a Suffragist for the cause. In 1894 at the time of her death\, no clergy would officiate since Virginia was disrupting the natural order of the times! Learn how others in their time may have been classified and how we view their lives today. \n\n \nThursday\, April 11\, 2024\, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. \n\nSt. Louis County Library–Oak Bend Branch\n842 S Holmes Ave\, St. Louis\, MO 63122\n\n(314) 994-3300\n\n \n \nGet more info here! \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW!\n\n  \nFor registration questions\, please reach out to the event venue at (314) 994-3300 \n \nMAKE A GIFT\nThese presentations are free.
