DESCRIPTION:Located on the 314 acres of Bellefontaine Cemetery are over 100 Mausoleums. As St. Louisans had grand homes throughout the city\, they also had grand mausoleums on the grounds of Bellefontaine. This tour focuses on 20 of these structures. Entrance into a few of these structures has been granted by the families. DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: This is not a tour or history event. \n \nBellefontaine’s Wildwood Valley Gardens will be beautifully lit for an evening of reflection and remembrance. \nWe invite our cemetery families and their friends to join us between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm to write a memory and light a luminary in acknowledgement of loved ones here at Bellefontaine or elsewhere. Cemetery Staff and Volunteers will be setting lanterns for those interred at Bellefontaine since January 1\, 2018. \nIn order to accommodate all guests\, RSVP encouraged and greatly appreciated. You will learn about the range of “green” funeral and cemetery options available today- like being “planted” in a meadow or amongst the trees\, what one can expect when choosing a green service\, and the environmental benefits of green burial as compared to cremation and traditional burial. \nThis 90 minute presentation and Q&A will be held in at Hotchkiss Chapel at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. Green arrow signs will lead you from our main entrance at 4947 W. Florissant Ave. to the chapel.
