SUMMARY:Mausoleum Tour
DESCRIPTION:This two-hour walk with Master Guides Tom and Dan will focus on Prospect Avenue – home to many of Bellefontaine’s mausolea. After meeting at Willow Gate House to organize\, the tour group will drive and park near a southern point in the cemetery. The walk will cover less than a mile of moderate terrain and visit 20 mausolea.  Permission has been granted to enter; the Wainwright\, Lemp and Pierce mausolea for this tour.\nInformation will be given on the people and the structures which house these notable St. Louis families including\, Cupples\, Brown\, Bixby\, Waldbart and Spink. \n♦ Space is limited and reservations are required\n♦ Walking terrain is mild with a mixture of hard and soft surfaces\n♦ Please wear appropriate outdoor walking attire\n♦ We ask that everyone arrive between 15 to 20 minutes before tour time for a prompt departure\n♦This is a rain or shine event except in the case of extreme lightning \nTours are free\, however\, donations to the Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery are gratefully accepted. \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave

SUMMARY:Autumnal Equinox at the Severson Monument
DESCRIPTION:William Conrad Severson\, an internationally renowned sculptor\, designed a modern granite obelisk to memorialize himself and his wife. What makes this monument so unique is that during the fall and spring Equinox\, at Solar Noon\, the obelisk acts as a sundial\, casting a cross of light on the ground. \nJoin us September 22 to watch the phenomenon of this uniquely crafted memorial. \nGathering at 12:30 and informal discussion about the Severson.  Solar noon occurs at 12:53:11 pm. \n
