SUMMARY:Decoration Day Living History Fair
DESCRIPTION:Fur Traders at Decoration Day 2017\nBellefontaine Cemetery will host our fourth living history event June 2nd\, 2018 from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM.  This year’s event will focus on St. Louisans who helped shape our city and made an impact after the Great Depression and into the War Years.   This event is designed to inform\, educate\, and entertain people of all ages. \nAll are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch (please no alcohol) as a nod to how families would picnic at the cemetery when it was first founded. \nDirectional signs will lead attendees from our main gate at 4947 W. Florissant to the event location on Walnut Hill. \nWe would appreciate if you would select your preferred arrival time so we can anticipate traffic flow in the cemetery.  This is a FREE event.

DESCRIPTION:The Life and Times of Charles Parsons—Genesis of the St. Louis Art Scene \n \nThis talk discusses the life and contributions of Charles Parsons (1824 – 1905). Parsons\, a St. Louis banker and collector\, filled the galleries of Washington University\, The St. Louis School and Museum of Fine Arts\, with his collections. Today many of his pieces can be found at both the St. Louis Art Museum and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis. \nThis presentation will be lead by John Launius\, former staff member\, of the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis. Launius has spent the past decade studying the life and times of Charles Parsons and is currently a speaker with the State Historical Society of Missouri.
