DESCRIPTION:A Summertime Past House & Garden EventSaturday\, June 13\, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. BCA is pleased to participate once again in Historic Saint Louis’s Summer Garden Tour. See how our ancestors connected with the land in both ornamental and practical ways and enjoy various summertime activities. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: History Walking Tours Take a one-hour tour in and around Wild Wood Valley Gardens. This tour will focus on the History of Bellefontaine and some of the individuals laid to rest in and around this garden setting. Three tour times are available. 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.\, register here\n\n1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.\, register here\n\n3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.\, register hereArboretum Walking Tours Garden Design Walking Tour: Stroll through Wild Wood Valley Gardens with one of Bellefontaine’s Horticulturist\, who will explain the unique garden design. The Tour will be one hour on easy terrain. 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.\, register here\n\n1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.\, register here\n\n2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.\, register here Flowering Plants Walking Tour: This tour will focus on the flowering plants of Wildwood Valley Gardens. Some attention will be drawn to the pollinators who call this Garden “home” and a place to pollinate. 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.\, register here Tree Walking Tour: Take a one-hour walking tour in and around Wildwood Valley Gardens and learn specifically about the trees which make up this section of the Bellefontaine Arboretum. 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.\, register here Architecture Walking Tour Cascade Mausoleum Walking Tour: This tour will focus on the architecture and design of Cascade Mausoleum. Our newest mausoleum with a commanding view of Cascade Lake and Wildwood Valley Gardens. 12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m.\, register here Trolley Tour Take a two-hour trolley tour through Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. This tour will be a combination of history and horticulture across 3.5 miles of this 314-acre Level III Arboretum and historic Cemetery. 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.\, register here Closing Program As the day’s activities come to a close\, we will be gathering in the Wildwood Valley Columbarium for a closing presentation. During the months of March\, April\, and May\, we offer this two-hour guided experience led by one of our Master Guides. \nOur guides will share highlights of the Cemetery grounds\, its unique horticulture\, and the stories of the many intriguing figures who call Bellefontaine their “last address.” As the landscape changes\, these spring tours place a special emphasis on our horticulture as various areas of the Arboretum reach different levels of bloom. \nTour Details:\n\nTime: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.\nDistance: Approximately 2 miles\nTerrain: Moderate\nAttire: Please wear appropriate walking shoes and clothing.\nArrival: Please arrive 15–20 minutes early for a prompt departure.\n\nRegistration is limited and reservations are required.
